Piedmont Airlines News & Rumors

I’m not done with my rant. I’ve held my tongue for awhile now. It doesn’t seem like you get it.... if you have been in this industry awhile now and just have a different view of reality that’s fine, I stand corrected but for a lot of us this is not our first rodeo. Our union has done their job this time around in spades. They asked for everything the people screaming I want better QOL from the company. They only will discuss pay. This is an LOA not contract negotiations. A union that turns down money when no concessions are asked in return is doing a disservice to its constituents. In an effort to make everyone happy they asked for what some not all people were complaining about. We are basically tying their hands behind their backs. Complainers will complain. They will always be heard more than the non complainers. Everyone has different views of everything. I too have heard the FOs I fly with say what in the world is the union doing? We should be taking the pay raise. It’s unfair to judge the union harshly for just doing what some of the people asked them to do. But it’s about time the non complainers get a voice too.
You, me, the union and the pilot group are entitled to nothing. You want something better leave. Go get that QOL you think your so entitled too. This isn’t bad. I’ve been in much worse workplaces. I have never thought I deserve something because.... People saying I would take QOL more than money to me is ridiculous. That’s my opinion. I might judge your manhood for thinking that way but maybe I am a little old fashioned and don’t make it my way is the right way. I don’t complain all day long in the cockpit about how bad this place is to all my FOs making trips horrible for the crews.
Take a look at the last state of the airline. Maybe you can understand why the thinking “Pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered” mantra came from. Even why AAG might be offering the pay raises.
These are my opinions. I am not the only person that thinks this way. I know that for a fact. I don’t mean to come off snotty or personally attacking anyone. But a lot of people on the other side are and it seems to me that they are the only ones being heard by the union. So if you agree contact your union reps. Email them. I have never understood why we have to always treat management like the enemy.

Let me play Devils advocate.
Then leave...... it was no secret what you were getting yourself into when you came to Piedmont. It’s no surprise you only get 11 days off and get crappy line credit for the flying we do. It’s never been good even when we flew the Dash 6 legs a day. No matter how long a person has been here do you have a right to tell someone to leave. You leave. You don’t like the situation you got yourself into get out of it and stop whining. Why do you even come to work? If you want to be home more then I suggest a different line of work.
He is right. This is no contract negotiation. AAG wants to Pay us more for Nothing why in the world would you turn it down? So you can keep being paid crap? At least take an improvement when you can. If pay means nothing for recruiting then how does taking a pay increase worsen our bargaining position? Im willing to take the Pepsi challenge to prove that crap. We all know it won’t help. Yes our QOL sucks compared to our comrades. But I knew that before I came here. I don’t mind working hard for pay. Want me to work more and get 11 days off? FUPM.
I think there are many different views concerning this. I think asking the company for the improvements was correct. But I also understand that trying to go back into contract negotiations is unrealistic when all the company is willing to talk about is pay. If they want to only talk about pay then pay us what the QOL we have is worth. That’s more than PSA got. This is a business. A lot of the things we want is a bit of a gray area of what the cost would actually be to the company. It would take more than a couple of weeks to hash that out. Pay isn’t. It is what it is. I would rather get triple at more money per hour than our current crappy pay. I’m not willing to walk away with more money (the whole reason I come to work in the first place) in my pocket when the company isn’t asking me for something in return. It completely boggles my mind. Especially when it will finally prove to the company that they are forced to improve QOL because the pay increase did nothing for recruitment. No one in there right mind would come here with what PSA has. Same bases, more pay, more credit hr trips, better trips, more days off, and maybe even faster flow than us. I’m sure all the haters will message me about this post but I really don’t care. Some of these people’s posts IMO are ridiculous.

Don’t bother about trying to convince this APC crowd. The loudest voices here are piedmont’s top 1% disgruntled pilots. Most of them are just angry they can’t get hired anywhere else and have to wait on a trickle of a flow that could disappear at anytime.
For what’s its worth I’d probably be grumpy if I knew I would be stuck at piedmont for years on end also.

Lol . It’s not personal... I would never “hide” behind my APC handle.... anything I say on here I would say in person. We all work together. We all know what the others say in the cockpit. People can easily figure out who is who. I only started posting today and would say the same things in a union meeting.

To anyone advocating to take money with no attempt to improve other aspects of the contract, I don't think you understand what the Union is leveraging against management. Mgmt needs the pilot group to just take the cash, unquestioned, so recruiting offers can at least superficially be comparable to PSA. Well, if management needs something why shouldn't the pilot group negotiate to have a few of it's needs addressed as well? No one should be scared of "losing" the pay rates, they've already been conceded to us.
