Piedmont Airlines News & Rumors

Saving face? Because that’s how it basically went down. Our management went to AAG and made a case for more money for PSA pilots. AAG agreed. They then brought the pay rates to our MEC after they signed an NDA. Never in my life have I seen so many pilots poo poo on an airline for making gains. Gains for nothing at that...
PSA ALPA represents the pilots of PSA. Not the pilots of PSA, PDT, and EVY. After signing an NDA, even if PSA ALPA decided not to agree to new pay rates they would have been bound not to tell EVY or PDT leadership what it was they were offered. So they should have turned down new pay rates which directly benefit the pilots of PSA for what reason? Pattern bargaining is alive and well. Take what we got and use it as leverage to top it.
I didn’t hear any PDT or EVY pilots talking down to PSA pilots when we got our reserve rule improvements or when they recently announced our premium pay overrides. Now all of a sudden we get pay rates and all you can do is be bitter. We’ve been continuously making gains for a while now. If you aren’t that is not our fault.

I’ve yet to meet someone who would rather sleep in a hotel than at home. I agree, new guys will come for the money, but attrition will still but substantial and they’ll have a very difficult time hiring to maintain our current size.

I would be careful about putting out the rumors of pay raises no matter how certain you are.
We had very strong rumors we were about to get raises at PSA this time last year. I’ve flown with countless FOs that only came to PSA because they thought raises were around the corner. Sure enough... a good enough rumor to instill hope and keep classes full. Not until a year later, our interview groups were finally starting to dry up and we finally got pay raises.
Management doesn’t need to raise pay if people start showing up to class again because they THINK raises are coming.

I know this is a Piedmont thread, so I'm not gonna go on and on about it, but I'm really getting tired of people constantly touting these as "rule improvements". Basically the only thing that LOA did was change how assignments are done. Not that most lineholders would know that.

Exactly. Young guys want to be away from home flying the line. Not spending 19 hrs in a hotel room.
If you're barely logging 16 hrs in a 4 day, that's 4 hrs flying a day. Where do the other 20 go I wonder? (Hint: Sleeping, Hotel, Playing Airport Games). Not logging time.
So those "young guys" better come to that realization before selecting PDT.

Yea, thanks, I meant ENY.
Being that our NH has dried up, I’m sure the interviews aren’t far behind...so we should be getting our pay raises pretty soon. Or will need to get raises soon if they want anyone to ever show up or people to stay at that rate. It doesn’t seem like rumors are going to cut it. Even with the rumors of rate matching true, still not enough to help.
It’s getting worse as time goes on, the snowball is rolling down hill. The longer you let it roll, the harder it is to stop. They are just costing themselves more as time goes on.
If they gave even $10 or $15h, the TA might have passed (maybe not...it was pretty bad, the $2 was just adding insult) and it could have saved them from needing to now give us $25/h raises now. And they wouldn’t have wasted a bunch of money training new guys that just left.
What is the saying? Tripping over a dollar to save a dime? Net loss, 90 cents.
I wonder what their net loss was from that stunt they tried to pull with that embarrassing TA.
I would say the majority of the country thinks their job is a dumpster fire. But it puts food on their table. I would encourage folks to join PDT and stand in a dumpster fire if 1st year pay $70/h
