Why would the mec chair be personally calling fo's asking if they would be ok to accept a deviation from the contract? This whole thing is bizarre.. I love our union guys and appreciate everything they do for us, but this is just bizarre.
The company has never interpreted the contract in favor of pilots recently. In fact the new management has done everything to interpret the contract in their favor. I miss jeff and scott.. this place changed so fast when they left..
I get helping the company out, and maybe it's worse than we realize or maybe it's not as bad, but the contract language is clear on at home study days before training.
Goes to show you how a few people on this forum can really get the union and managements interest.

You had the commuter clause LOA that the company modified and announced without consulting with the union and you have the union leader unilaterally striking verbal deals between the company and individual pilots that set a precedence to alter the contract without a signed LOA...

The hypocrisy of this forum is mind boggling. You have the majority of this pilot group willingly violating the contract to go below min days off for personal gain every month and yet you’re ****ed because a few FO’s waived 4 days off (for additional compensation) to complete an iPad study module?! GTFO. Passing up the opportunity for an upgrade is a very risky move in this industry and I’m glad these pilots have finally been given the opportunity to progress their careers. The company could’ve easily went the route of DEC’s and continued to screw those who’ve worked hard to keep this airline in business...

You mean the LOA that put the pilots at risk of losing non-rev travel privileges? Yeah, it needed to change and had been brought to the company’s attention more than once. All it takes is one pis$ed off non-rever to report you for a double listing and poof! No travel for you...

If someone offered me 32 hours of pay to be prepared for an upgrade class early.....I would do it. That’s four premium days that are dropping out of the sky. I’m not seeing a violation here or at least not a violation without compensation.

The union leadership is supposed to represent then interest of the entire employee group to management, not the interest of management to individual employees nor put the interest of individual employees above the group. Somewhere along the line BF and the MECs under his tenure lost sight of that.
The irony is that two weeks ago BL had a meltdown on group chat because the OE instructors want to engage the company to increase the pay/QOL for that group. BL read them the riot act about the MEC working to further the goals that benefit the entire pilot group... then the MEC turns around and agrees to a verbal deal that benefits four FOs and the company at the expense of the status quo for contractual protections for every future Captain upgrade.

Have been hearing Frontier wants to triple in size. Whether that happens, remains to be seen. One thing for sure- your pilot group and management have yet to come to grips with the fact that Spirit and Frontier are going to raid your first officers and captains who are far out of the flow range. Your staffing is going to crash if it comes to be. And the viability of Piedmont to cover the schedule is at huge risk.
