The ONE thing that was said to me by someone in the department rubbed be the wrong way. I was told that the goal was to get as many people through even if they had issues and that they would “figure it out on the line.” Kind of a shocking thing to hear. That said, every FO I’ve had has been really sharp. I’ve had a few FOs that had some concerns about other captains, but maybe it was a personality thing.

That one person, as PIC, can put certain impressions on new FOs that could lead to a trend later on.

I’ve heard FOs complain about dudes I’ve flown with who are really sharp. Sometimes when you get into the groove of your job, and start getting good at it, you can get a know it all kind of attitude. Usually right around 500-700 hours. I think most people go through a little phase like that, I’m sure I did it.
Point being, I don’t see a lot of problems on the line so I don’t know about this one. There are def a few people I’m surprised to see make it through upgrade but usually it’s more of a personality thing

I rememeber my first leg w said person. Came out to the dash and they had everything done w the HSI pointed to the right and first words after I sat down. “mind if I take this one? The weather is at mins and i’ve never flown an approach that low.” “yea...no...my leg.. scooter”
