As long as you and your family can handle the long trips on the other side of the world I’d say go to Kalitta.

everyone here is giving you estimates and that is what I will do with my experience so far:

March 2017 hire, started SOE (clocking time) Oct 17. Because of $$ reasons I had been busting my ass while triple was around and clocking a lot of extra time (August I just clocked 97.2 hrs). I am currently at 720 hrs and typically around 100-120 hrs above most of the FOs for YTD flight time. Since triple is gone, I'm not picking up extra because its just not worth it. I am guessing I will hit 1000 hrs sometime late December or maybe Jan. Then it will be 2-5 months to upgrade and get back on the line if I stay here.

So minimum 2 years busting your ass, 2.5-3 years normally.

I just ran into and briefly chatted with a newer FO at Piedmont- he said he is seeing more 5/2's and 5/3's rather than the typical 4/2... is this just his experience being new or extended or JMed or is this becoming more of the norm for everyone? Do any current pilots have any input on the breakdown as to what the current typical percentages are of each flavor of rotation? Thanks in advance!

Mostly 4 and 2. The occasional 5 and 3 mixed in, but it's not nearly consistent enough to plan on being the norm. The schedules improved a tiny tiny bit this month in terms of stretches of days off. We still have a loooong way to go

Some improvements.. but mostly 4 on 2 off.. so 3 nights in a hotel 3 to one nights at home

Most lines credit 75 hours a month...

Unfortunately building high credit with high qol is very difficult with the flying pdt does and the cba. Many trips count for 16 hours as we don't have a min day, we have a modified min day, lack of a duty rig. We just have the modified min day which is a trip rig that each day of the trip will average 4 hours credit.

Its very difficult without triple premium to credit 90 to 100 hours at piedmont right now.

Therefore a current 4 year captain will take home about 2200 there first pay check of the month and about 1600 the second paycheck of the month.

This is my exact situation for Sep. 11 days off, not commutable on half the trips. 75 hours pay. In the past I would pick up triple if I couldn't commute to take the sting off of not making it home. Now that's not even an option.

For fos take home pay for a month is pretty meager at about 2000 dollars a month.. but the are bonuses do help, i just don't count them as salary..

Right now we are being advised for the lowest pay in the airlines.

Is the $20k FO retention bonus still paid $2,500/quarter over 2yrs only until/if you upgrade? How is the Captain retention bonus paid?

Year 2 end 3 you will receive up to 20k, 2500 per quarter...

Captain retention is 7500 but only paid if you didn't receive the fo bonus.
