Gonna start with this one because it made me laugh the most. He made money because he's sucking the place dry. Buy AA stock and put your money where your mouth is. I sold mine.
No. It's not. It's because rather than pay off debt, AA has bought back it's own stock.
Airlines with the newest fleet:
1.) Spirit
2.) Frontier
3.) Alaska
4.) JetBlue
5.) Hawaiian
6.) American
Wonder who among that list has the most debt? Take a wild guess, and then tell me that fleet modernization has anything to do with American and it's debt problem.

I feel like the fleet modernization program at American Airlines is magnitudes larger than any of those other airlines you listed relative to fleet size. It’s not surprising to me that AA had more debt due to the scale of the modernization and the stock buyback. Neither to me are indicative of a problem long term though. It may be cheaper to have the debt than it is to buy back equity at this point.
Either way this is leagues above my background but I wouldn’t say the ship is exactly on fire here...

Sad truth. Not a single CP on property can actually relate to the pilot group because NONE of them have or can hop in the 145 and actually fly a revenue leg. Pretty sad state, yet they call themselves “Pilots”.
