We should achieve our next critical milestone of 725 pilots on property by end of year.. very exciting stuff.
Some folks may not want to or be in a position to be able to wait 4-6 months to wait to start after their interview date (it's still May and we're talking about October start dates), and everyone else is hiring as well... with many companies offering dates to start within 2-3 weeks of interview, hence the question if Piedmont is loosing folks from indoc classes who have gotten jobs elsewhere in the months between interviews and start dates.

I can see not wanting to wait for your start date (no pay )
However, for the delay AFTER start date and before training starts - full pay, full travel benefits, 0 on 30 off line - I don't understand why someone would complain about that
Maybe for a senior citizen where every day not flying was a huge percentage of total time available before 65

Right now piedmont is receiving many apps and is actually able to be a little bit selective. If you want to be here, it's how it is... If your building time apply early. That being said, PDT is an amazing place to be right now.... If the wait isn't worth it go to place that will give you a class in 2 weeks, only you can make that decision. That being said our training department will soon be able to handle much more.

Well that's the thing....Piedmont isn't as bad as other places regarding waiting time. Co-worker just interviewed with Envoy and was told January as a start date to BEGIN his fixed wing training through their contracted flight school (can't remember the name.) It's similar at PSA, really all the American eagle WO that are doing the rotary transition program for military pilots.

For many of us (military guys) it works out really well. We put up our separation date and leave the day before training starts.

I'm not questioning whether it is worth it or not. I have several friends there and they are very happy. I was just curious if the company has seen negative effects of having such a long backup between interviews and start dates, which seems to be happening in other segments of the industry.

A lot of guys coming to piedmont are coming from other Regionals so they can wait 4-6 months to begin by holding off resigning from their current company. Someone who is currently unemployed I can understand not wanting to wait that long. At the end of the day piedmont is having no issues filling classes. I know plenty of guys who began working at envoy a few years before I began at piedmont and I will flow a few years before they do. Great time to come here. Training is slowly catching up and once it does this place will be the place to be.

Indeed, it is already a great time to be here. You want growth, you got Growth! You need to see past the growing pains in training.
