It's tough to get anything accomplished if you aren't in a position to demand a change. Our classes are full, and nobody here is in a position to strike since this is some half-assed midterm negotiation. Not to mention our wagon is hitched to PSA and ENY. The whipsaw is a two way street, race to the bottom and crawl to the top.
I could only imagine this new LOA will contain nothing but minor changes to things that are QOL issues such as interface and schedule efficiency. I sincerely doubt we will be able to pull wages above our WO peers. And the worst part, if we vote no? I doubt our situation changes. Classes are STILL full and people know damn well our schedules are terrible, our pay is bottom tier, and our future isn't as bright as the other WO.
So yeah, there's not much to talk about. There's also nothing to roll over on because we're in a system that prevents us from being able to make tangible changes in such a short time frame. The best thing to do is keep potential newhires informed about what is really going on here so they can make informed decisions. Maybe over time that will yield the change.

I agree, the deck is stacked against us, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't play ball

I haven't been here long enough to feel one way or another. At the end of the day, it's only as good as the people who volunteer for it. I would hope that anyone here that is truly interested in improving this place would volunteer their time to the union.
That being said, the way they set up the PDT/ENY/PSA trio really ties our hands on negotiation in my opinion. However, we should never not strive for industry standard and then some. We have some incredible people here. I wish the line of communication between our unions was more open but I think PSA shut the door on that one back in 14.
Last I checked on average its $3-4 more per hour. If I had to guess it would probably be the number the company would be comfortable with giving us, which is not at all what the captains here deserve. Unfortunately, I heard that our negotiators do more work with some bigwig from Dallas than those from SBY... That's how hitched we are to our WO counterparts. Doug could wake up one day and completely change the structure as we know it, but this whipsaw circle is a tried and true model.

It’s not going to happen overnight but I think that’s the long term goal. However talking about long term futures of regionals is pointless since again IMO the whole industry will probably be down to 4 or 5 large regionals.
Sooner rather then later (unless a major event happens) regionals will no longer be able to keep up with attrition no matter what they offer. This is all ready happening at some shops.

TONS of people are getting into flying, flight schools are full, DPE's are busy, planes are flying everywhere. It's not 2009 on the supply side anymore.
Some more realities is AA won't be replacing pilots 1 for 1. There is a massive wave of consolidation in the AA fleet going forward. MD80's, E190's, older 73's are being replaced by bigger A321's and denser maxes and many less fleet types. In less than 5 years the MD80, E19, 757, 767 and A330's will be gone or headed out the door.

This is more wishful thinking than reality I believe. Places like Mesa and GOJETZ are putting people in class while Envoy and EDV have people waiting half a year for a class date.

The CFI well is drying. The average 0 to hero pilot will be instructed by 4 different instructors. Unfortunately instructors are hired the second they have the required hours. 10 years ago it wasn't unheard of instructors having 3k hours, 500 multi.

The regional training. All regional training departments are strained. Instructors are leaving, sim time is scarce and fos are leaving companies to chase fast upgrades or better money. PDT takes 2 year's before you have the hours to upgrade. Hence the DEC surge. We're not the only company struggling to promote internally.
