Hired a new position today, Flight operations engineer. Sounds like piedmont is finally starting to care about fuel burn.

Should be an interesting next few months.

Lol flying Dash routes at 10,000ft. with an RJ will never make for a good fuel burn. If the rampers didn’t make us wait every single time we arrive somewhere, those few minutes across the entire operation would probably add up to a lot of savings, but what do I know. Good luck Todd!!

I think it's comical personally how often we configure for single engine taxi as soon as were being marshaled in.

Yeah, that's where the fuel saving is at... Not the 45 minutes of flying at redline.

I'm not surprised...they have started to tinker with a few things as of late. Keep an eye on your fuel numbers, as I hope you all do. Be safe out there!

Any amount of fuel savings is good. Don't be that FO that asks your CA if they want #2 when you're ten + from departure because you "have plenty of fuel to play with". No, it doesn't work that way.

But I agree, we are far from economical with our fuel. The sad fact is that the 145 will never be economical from a fuel standpoint. They were parking them when petrol got expensive. And, oil is nearing a 52 week high...

Man, I just start the engine whenever I’m told. Unless I see that there’s a line of planes he/she may be missing, then I may mention something.

Yeah, I will be honest. The fuel price increase does worry me a lot with our fleet. Hopefully we can start reeling in our operational expenses now that we’re getting the hang of flying the jet vs the dash. Say what you want to say about our relationship with management, but we all will benefit from having as many jets for as long as we can here until we get something more fuel efficient and economical. We are the low man on the totem pole as far as cost effectiveness in the regional scheme.

Most all here fly at redline (planned) and get in 20ish mins early. If you see projected time will be early or get a shortcut, why not pull it back and fly a bit slower. Much more fuel savings and still get in early.

The 145 has never been economical... 10 years ago it wasn't and still isn't. Which is why I was shocked we were getting them and adding more. Fuel is about to get really expensive............... Furthermore, watch your fuel numbers, been seeing that :45 minute reserve brought down below the required amount.... Fly safe guys/gals
