Ask him who Amazon is going to buy. He most definitely is in the know about that. I hope You guys get some much needed QOL improvements. Again, this is not a s6 negotiation. I spent a decade there and have seen how little we could get over the years. Happy the 12/4 pay rates have gone up, just not enough by any means. Remember it’s like curling. ”mgt tosses the decision stone down the lane. The union is the sweepers. They might move it a few inches, but it takes a f-ton of sweeping.” Pilot X. Only way to make life okay PDT is to live in base or very close by. I moved all over the damn east coast to not commute on days off. Unfortunately the way I’ve seen the past to get 12 days off they are going to want a lot in return.
I think rick’s still has your picture on the wall

Well I have spoken to numerous Piedmont pilots that say it isn’t that bad. I also have enough airline experience to know that 12 or 13 min days off is pretty good.
I’m not expecting the QOL to be great however the guy saying there’s numerous better places to be is a bit ridiculous. Yes I don’t work there yet but I have a lot of acquaintances at almost all the different regionals so I have a pretty good gauge on the current state of the industry and contracts.
I’m pretty confident in saying that if some of the expected QOL improvements are in this AIP as well as possibly captain pay matching the other WO’s 50 seat rate. Newbies would not be going wrong going to work at piedmont.

I really don’t see where I’ve ever said Piedmont has a great quality of life currently. All I’ve said is that if you guys can get 12-13 min days off along with some better scheduling rules and a pay bump that it would be relatively ok QOL for a regional.
Biggest point I’ve tried to make is no other regional has a good QOL.

Don't worry, despite the pontificating seen here, there are plenty of regular guys and gals who will see the value in the improvements you stated and vote for them. If the improvements should come to light that is.

Going from the panel to the gear handle took some adjustment. It still hasn’t quite sunk in. And Ricks?! Got me confused w Tam.PA. Okay, guilty. Was great after the Rangers game. Oh those 12-4am and 1130-330 in yyz were disgusting. See ya soon!

Just read the AWAC thread about their TA. Some serious gnashing of teeth over there. This kind of behavior is normal around voting time. Just comes with the territory.

Least it doesn’t sound like they are being threatened w closing the doors at ZW, or using that ugly merger word. Yet. I’m very confident they will say no over there, and then it will be like what B.B. said to RAH. Or even Pdt for that matter. I was preparing to see Pdt’s doors close and awac step in and do all our flying within a month if we didn’t cut Eagles throats and say yes. Guess that never could have happened looking back. “It’s a dirty rotten business.” But, I think all pilots know they have the upper hand now. Tough break seeing the ME3 get a win and same w Norwegian. That is was has me worried big time.

Man-oh-Man, you guys are killing me. About 2-3 months ago, comments were about how great it was working at Piedmont Airlines. As a former airport manager at an airport served solely by Piedmont, the continued presence of Piedmont is absolutely critical to the airport and community. One thing though is as costs increase (Piedmont employee pay, fuel, etc), so does the price of a ticket. Piedmont doesn't pay your salary or airport fees. The passenger pays your salary and operating expense by purchasing airline tickets. I travel often enough that my new employer hires a travel consultant to book all company flights. I always give Piedmont/American originating from my hometown airport the first option, but lately ticket prices have been so high that the travel consultant books me on Southwest/BWI or Delta/DCA (that includes reimbursement for my driving to other airports). If I know I'm traveling well in advance (4-weeks+) I can book some pretty good fares out of my hometown airport (Portland ME in 4-weeks $387R/T). Any closer though Piedmont/American ticket are $800-$1,000+. Just chiming in.

You also seem to be omitting the price of tickets is driven by competition. Sounds like your home airport is lacking in that department. I’m sure American sets the price just to the point of a ticket more than the BWI ticket to account for the cost of your time and convenience of not having to drive to Baltimore.
Lastly, ticket pricing is up to American itself. Regional airlines are nothing more than a tool to keep the hub fed. They are making money on you going to your next destination, not on the flight to the hub and back. Our wages certainly do add up, but as the old adage goes “you have to spend money to make money”.
I guess $39,000/yr is a reasonable wage to make for 5 years of flying experience and a four year degree from an accredited college, all while having a ton of responsibility and no quality of life. /s
