I don’t understand why guys EXPECT hotels in their base. Sure they are very nice and VERY convenient but it’s your base that’s your “domicile” you should plan accordingly, like a crashpad.... At my prior carrier we never got hotels in base and if training was done in your base you didn’t get hotels during that either because, it’s your base...

Maybe because at some regionals it’s in the contract.

Well we can be sued for not picking up open time because it’s been standard for us to cover trips by picking it up. It’s also been standard for them to provide rooms during cancellation events. Now they are not? The knife goes both ways.

Hope all is well.

TSA flying has been on the PDT lipstick list for a while. It would not be surprising if PDT opened up DCA as its 3rd 145 base.

I am about 6 months out from beginning the Piedmont Cadet program as a CFI so I could receive the 5k tuition reimbursement "bonus" while building to my 1,500- I am now reconsidering due to all the negative feedback I've been reading about Piedmont here on APC... I live 45 minutes from Philadelphia which was originally my primary reason for going with Piedmont, in addition to the flow. If I choose to keep my options open until ATP, would I get that 5k at indoc if I wound up going with PDT? Any thoughts on this in general?

Industry changes every 6 months or so these days.... if folks shy’daAway from working at companies due to unhappy posters on APC, planes everywhere would be parked and the public would be taking the Train and buses.

45min from PHL PDT should be on the top of (or close to it) your list due to that and the flow. Expect PDTs contract changes to be ironed out by the time you’re eligible to start the cadet program so you’ll have a better idea of how things will be as a newhire then.

If you don't sign anything and haven't received any money, they have no recourse other than possibly remembering you and not hiring you in the future. I wouldn't jump ship yet, we have some negotiations that should be settled by the time you are ready. Wait and see how it goes. Living in base would make life so much easier. If by some chance you do change your mind, please tell them exactly why so that they can see that their actions have consequences.

This isn't specific to Piedmont, but I'm not sure why anyone would commit to a specific regional that early. Everything can change by the time you start flying for them. If I were in your shoes, I'd keep my options open until you're almost at the requisite hours.
