Those are some incredible “facts” been here over a year and I can’t say that that’s been my experience in the least and I have sat reserve as a FO and a CA. You either have terrible luck or don’t know the contract very well would be my guess. Sorry for your poor experience. Good news is other regionals are hiring so you can always vote with your feet. Best of luck and I hope our negotiations bring everyone improved quality of life.

Here at Envoy my experience is vastly different to both a new hire FO or Street CA simply by joining 16 odd months ago. 16-17 day off lines as FO and when I upgrade basically no reserve. For someone joining as a street CA it’ll be endless reserve or an FO basically won’t fly as they are fat on FO’s.
Timing is everything, it’s disingenuos to suggest that your great experience is that of a new hire at any company today.

Lets be honest, they tell you at the interview min 11 days off but normally get at least 13... Total BS, even if you can't hold a line and get a build up they will make sure they put reserve days in your schedule so you only have 11 days off.
This means, you will be on average getting 5 days at home a month if you commute. I will not get a crash pad with 3 others in a room sleeping in a bunk bed with an average of 18 people in a house.
Flow currently is roughly 5 years, which is much better than Envoy which is at 9 years.
Anyone calling fatigued will be monitored to see if you are faking it to get home as a commuter.
Scheduling will try under handed tactics like calling you up to 4 times on your last day off to make you take a later standby which are 14 hours in length. It will not benefit you as a commuter because your last standby will run to 10 pm and they will not release you under normal circumstances any less than 1 and a half - 2 hours hours prior making commuting home on your last day very tough.
While many may call this complaining, sorry guys its just fact and the truth hurts. No matter who I chat with in the flight deck most of the team are fed up work living to work with very low wages.
paychecks for new hires - take home first pay 1500 second 750 while in training. The only thing that makes up for this is the bonus you may have received when you started. First one when you start training and the big one if you are able to get the full 21000 roughly right after type rating.
The second year bonus is not issued immediately depending on which quarter you started.

Piedmont had been good to me... but until we get drastic qol improvements, compensation, and the training backlog remediated... i have been pointing prospects elsewhere at the moment.. get time quickly at another place and go to a jet blue spirit or frontier asap...
Unfortunately the fatigue and sick call witch hunt is true.. its abusive and legally negligent... word is the FAA is preparing administrative action and collecting evidence. I can't tell you how many fos that I'm with that are flying sick or tired and they are afraid of management action and loss of premium pay.
Unfortunately the company is willing to risk violations vs tell the parent it is unable to staff the company and does not have adequate reserves to cover sick and fatigue calls.
This past month people have been walking around like zombies..
I know several commuters that only spent 5 or six nights in their home bed this last month.

If you’re not happy where you are, get your apps out and leave for a better opportunity as soon as possible. Win-win scenario all around.

We have a real shot at making this place worth commuting, but I'd take a wait and see attitude on this contact if I wasn't willing to move into base to work here.

Read the scheduling section for sure. Know how long you have to get to the airport on reserve, and don't answer the phone on your days off. A person living in base has a much better QOL than a commuter. A Philly FO should be at home at least 11 days a month if they live there.

Pretty much everyone I talk to that’s outside of a year from flow has their finger on the button if this deal is not up to par. Swa spirit etc. apps will be flying off the shelves around here. Of course the smaat kids have apps out already and know they can push off class dates while waiting on the deal to be done
Pdt has been very good to me. However that is not the case for the majority of the line guys here as of lately.

Honestly right now... edv or republic are better choices today for a new hire...
