What he said... much more elegantly than I.

The only way one is upgrading in 6 months is to have previous airline experience. As slow as our training department is, a new hire is not even in sims at the 6 month mark!!! Still have to get 1,000 121 hours!

If you come from a 145 operator should be and is doable..

I ask because as a military flyer, 6 months to PC of an aircraft is f'n crazy.

Think of it like you just left the 82d and show up to the 101st, not your initial PC ride. As others have said, prior 121 and same airframe is the best scenario. With that, you're essentially learning a new FOM and nuances of the particular company. Just like you would have to learn the 101 ASOP/TACSOP - 95-1 and the -10 don't change.

BTW, 121 CPTs are CAs

The FAA says you need 2,500 hours of TT and 1,000 hours 121 time to upgrade. No mention of time in type. The majority of the 145 initial cadre had 0 time in type. We still get lots of guys with 0 jet time transfer from Dash CA/FO to Jet CA and most guys can do it. With that said, it's helpful to have SIC time in type so when you upgrade to CA you know what the FO is suppose to be doing.

It's actually a good problem to have, most guys have the exact opposite problem - ready to upgrade but can't because upgrade times are loooong.

Just heard, 140s put on hold indefinitely by AA. Plan is 31 145s on property by year end, many more to follow. Canadian destinations (YYZ, YUL, a couple others) start in the next few months.

On the upside, now we won't have to keep track of two pay scales on our pay reports.

I was put into August class and got an email yesterday that no classes will be held in August. Anyone else in September class?
