PHX makes zero sense though. Crew bases require some route structure overlap to allow planes to get to maintenance, or access to reserve crews from out of base.

Absolutely, in fact, I'd say that with the way our seniority list moves constantly, Philly will always be available to new hires.

People in the training department. Also, allegedly some person involved in operations in CLT is claimed to be a source. I know, I know, that's maybe one or two steps above the OAL flight attendant in the hotel van as far as rumor reliability goes...but hey, gotta get some hope from somewhere right??

Mine is BOS, but no regionals here... I'm thinking about giving up on AA as my major of choice (at least for the short term), and going for JetBlue for that sweet sweet non-commuting QOL.
