Back in the day, I traded flying for jumps. Are people making a living down there now?
For the original poster, if you're hoping to avoid getting your instructor certificate, what is it that you hope you're qualified to do?
If you're looking for pilot work at this stage in the game, your pilot certificate and your flight hours are worth something. Your degree is not; it doesn't enhance your value as a low time pilot, at all.
You indicated you'd move if you absolutely have to. You may wish to rethink that approach. You'll move if you get an opportunity to do so, and will go anywhere and do anything for work. That approach may work a little better for you.

If needed, in the PHX AZ area I know a company that does extremely cheap multi engine time building. Pretty sure it the lowest in the valley. I've known a lot of guys who have racked up 20-50 hrs in a short period to boost their resume for the regionals, but as said before, in the phx area now I know many of the big academy schools are giving signing bonuses for new hire CFIs Or the skydiving outfits are usually running non stop on the weekends. PM me if interested in any more info..
