Default Part 141 out west

Working on my CFI/CFII right now. When I am done I would like to move out West (Colorado, Utah, Montana, maybe Cali, or other like places). Was wondering if anyone knew of a good place to instruct? I want to get a lot of hours so I was thinking about a 141 school. Anyone know of any good places?

Honestly, look up Phoenix or California flight schools. They are the only real options, and look up ones that pay very well. It's a long haul now, maybe 2-3 years for most fresh CFIs. There aren't a lot of flight hours to be had and there are instructors coming out of the woodwork. There are plenty of people graduating from a precious few places that don't have instructor turnover.

Check out transpac. They are a high colume school that works for the Chinese Airlines in Phoenix flying AC Archers, if what I'm told is true. I work with a few former employees of theirs.

If you'd like, check out IASCO in Redding, California. I work there, but generally don't recommend it for anyone that wants to instruct to help their career. If you want to be a career flight instructor, then go to IASCO.

For sure I would recommend Phoenix.

Check out Transpac or some other local aviation academies. We are flying 80ish hrs and up on the monthly basis....

You get used to the heat, and it's a dry heat

I worked in Fresno at Mazzei's Flying Service for over a year back in 2008-2009. It doesn't have all the flash and pizzaz of some of the larger schools but it is a great work environment. You got to make your own schedule and pay was above average I used to make close to $3,000 a month no problem. Granted I was working 10 hour days. It's a tried and true program school has been around since the 1930's and the Same owner has had it since 1971. While other schools were going out of business because they were super mortgaged. Mazzei's just kept humming along with it's low over head. All the planes are paid for. No bank loans to worry about.

PM me if you have more questions.

I see postings for Hillsboro Aviation in Oregon all the time. Also, I worked for Lane Community College for awhile. LCC had competitive pay and they were super nice people. Not the busiest place but Id recommend it.

Nothing against Oregon; but you can have a hard time there with students vs the Wx and it rains more often than not... If you want to build hours it would be AZ, CA or FL. (& AZ is too damn hot in the summer for me anymore)

So get a CFII. Its usually not too cold most of the year (depending on where in Oregon) and doesn't have the storms like the midwest. Makes for good IMC experience.
