Default Chief Jump Pilot?

Is there such a thing as a Chief Jump pilot with only 500 hours?? Isn't there a minimum FAA hour requirement in order to officially hold this title, or is that only if it's a 135 or 121 operation?

I ask because even though this is only my first season flying jumpers, due to 3 of the other pilots quitting or being fired for various reasons I am now the senior pilot at my drop zone which means I have been doing all the new pilot recruiting, training, scheduling, and so forth. Manifest and the owner keep calling me the Chief Pilot but they don't actually know what they are ever talking about when it comes to aviation. I'm wondering if this is actually something I could put on a resume...

In a room of two Privates - someone is in charge!
I'd take charge and give yourself the title of Colonel!

Excellent advice USMCFLYR, but I don't see why I should stop at Colonel.

Are you hiring?.....SIR!

I have never heard of any regulating of the "chief jump pilot" position. I would say go with it and put it on the resume for sure. Especially if your boss is refering to you as chief.

I never understood why Gaddafi would stop at calling himself Colonel either , but maybe it looks better to be so powerful to rule a country as a Colonel instead of your run-of-the-mill General

If the boss would refer to you as the 'chief pilot' to any that may call for a reference in the future then sounds good I guess. Of course you might have an answer ready should a future interviewer sort of look at you funny and ask about you being a 'chief pilot' with such low time. Maybe that is when you could get a spark in the eye and use the line I gave you earlier!
