Cessna 172 to a Citation Mustang
I am a new member, but long time lurker on APC and figured this would be the perfect place for some input on a situation I'm in. A company wants to hire me on as a first officer in a citation mustang, but they dont want to pay for a type rating for 6 months until they know I'm a "good fit". In addition to working radios and the G1000 in the citation (non-type rated) I would have most non-flying duties as a chief pilot would. Baically when I'm not flying I will be working a 9-5 at the hanger. This is all part 91 and the pilot that is in the left seat is the owner. What kind of salary would I expect for being non-type rated in the beginning?
My qualifications are 1400hrs in various single engine trainers and about 20hrs multi. I meet 135 requirements.
Any input would help. Thanks!

The way I understand it you are just a trainee, and not a required crew member so you are practically a luxury to them. Therefore I would look for any livable wage in that situation, ballpark $30k or whatever it takes to get by in your location. Then in a year when you are "fitting in" and have your SIC type rating, you should expect to see something along the lines of NBAA Mustang starting SIC salary. I do not have that handy but I'll take a guess it is $45k.

Well aware of this. Sitting for 6 months before getting a Type is not a problem for me.

He has around 10,000 ours total. type rated in citation ultra and xl, also is type rated in a challenger. He has been flying his entire life, but did not make his living being a professional pilot. The aircraft is fresh off the assembly line and he has about 50 hours in it so far. Small trips, mostly vacation spots.

If you can live off whatever salary he pays you to do intern work, DO IT! 6 months is not a long time to get transitioning into a jet with your limited multi experience. As long as when you are typed, and you are paid fairly for your time. I would personally get a contract drawn up to guarantee your pay before and after the type rating.
I would personally start reviewing systems/multi characteristics, especially if it has been a while since your multi checkride.
