I flew right around 800 total in 2011 with 175 of that being multi.

Per month will vary depending on where your students are at in the program. When I had 4 students working on their private I was flying about 80/month. When all of them got to instrument and I was doing a lot of sim I had a few months where I only flew 35 hours. When they were in commercial and time building I hit 110 hours a month a couple times. It'll all average out probably around 800/year though.

The Archers A/C is pretty decent but you won't be able to use it on takeoff and landing since the compressor is engine driven. A few of the archers don't have A/C but they won't dispatch those during the day when the temps are too hot. The seminoles have a portable A/C unit in the baggage compartment that you can use all of the time but it doesn't cool the plane down nearly as well as the ones in the Archer.

Phoenix is hot whether you're in a plane or not. You'll just have to deal with it most of the time. I would have probably still worked there even if the planes didn't have A/C. Most planes in Phoenix don't.

95% Chinese and about 5% domestic I'd say. The only foreign contracts are currently Chinese and have been for years.

As many as you think they need before you solo them. No one will push you to do it. If they're right on pace they're going to fly 35-40 hours before they solo even if they're really good. If you don't think they're good enough then you can take as long as they need. I sent 6 Chinese students solo all with differing abilities. None of them ever had an incident and I didn't feel pressured to solo any of them.
The a few of the Archers at CAE in Mesa had AC but they hardly ever fixed them.

Has anyone flown at more than one flight training op in the Phoenix area? Which one is best if anyone is familiar with it?

That seems quite high. Is it 141 vs 61? or language issues?

Part 141, most of them are pretty good with speaking English.

Does Transpac do any kind of Contract or "gentleman's agreement" regarding minimum time there?

No, but there is no need to. If you want to work, they have plenty of it. I heard they are offering 7 days a week if you want it. 6 days per week is mandatory. You will build flight time, and about 1/4 of it multi if you have an MEI!

Wow... Any former/current transpac instructors have anything good to say about the environment?

It burns you out. I'll say that much. Working 50+ hours a week averaging 5 hours of flying per day as an instructor in the Arizona heat is pretty rough. After a year and a half there I honestly felt like I wasn't as good of an instructor as I was when I started just because I was getting burnt out on the job and started looking for excuses to take breaks and cut corners. It's not a good feeling. There were times when I felt pressured to sign students off for checkrides that weren't ready for them which is probably one of the reasons why the place has such a high failure rate.

I don't regret working there because I got my time and got out. It's not a place you want to stay long term though. Also when I worked there the work week was a normal 5 day week and the pay was higher. I've heard there have been big paycuts and changes to that. For me it was worth the money. It may not be anymore.
