Default Pacific/Oceania Jobs?

I've heard from my dad who's flying for Kalitta that there are some jobs in the Pacific/Oceania area, Samoa and Fiji, but haven't found a good source for job listings. I have SEL/MEL Commercial, CFI/CFII and working on towards a MEI. I'm really looking to go somewhere in the world for a change of scenery.

mins: 500TT. it's 135 VFR operations. they'd like to see some ATPs I think for when they eventually get Navajos for IFR ops, but we just hired a couple low timers (600 some odd and another w/ 800ish)

pay: I get about $1800/month (after taxes). Which is more than enough. COL is cheap here. I pay $300/mo for a 2 bedroom apartment.

schedule: varies. usually, you get at least 2 days off per week. may not be consecutive but the other pilots are usually flexible and are willing to work for you if need be. generally, when you work, you have a 12 hr shift. 7am-7pm OR 7pm-7am.

aircraft: cherokee 6. there's 6 in our fleet with hopes of getting some Navajos in the future.

you live on an island with 360 days of sunshine. average temp is 85 year round. this company has day and night operations. the route you fly is a short one: Tinian to Saipan; Saipan to Tinian. Each leg is about .3 and you'll fly it several times a day. Some days, I get maybe 3 or 4 hrs total. There are plans to begin cargo to Rota soon (I hope) as well as service to Guam in the future. it's a small company with potential for growth.

it's a good gig if you need to build some time. i came here with 360TT, did scenic tours to build my time, and then did my 135 checkride last July.

like jsfBoat suggested, it is a DEFINITE change in scenery. i mean, i can go 3 steps out my front door and pluck a coconut off a tree. on Tinian (where SMA is based), there are no chain restaurants and life is much slower than in the mainland US. But Saipan is a little busier and you can find a big mac there, if you so choose.

if you're interested, just send your stuff to Alma Canlas in our HR department. her email is listed on the website under "employment opportunities".

I'm not quite at 500TT yet, though I will be looking for you guys in about a year after I do some things I gotta do as far as jobs here or there

Man, I wish I had the time so I could just go out there now!

I sent her my resume. I would really like to go there, my uncle was on B-29's out of Saipan, and I believe his hardstand still exists, so it would be cool for the two different generations of aviators to be flying out the same airport some 60 years apart.

that is pretty cool Good luck man, I wish I Could go!

Of course it also helps I have a close friend currently living in Guam so Saipan or Tinian would make things definitely better
