hey "J"... hope all is well.. glad to see your career is launching and I think your timing is great... I predict some good times in the next two years... my advise to you is rather than try to go to a particular location, and especially over seas non-121 scheduled jobs... take a job with Eagle, ASA, Great Lakes, or whom ever is hiring FO's and get your time up... maybe upgrade and then when you've got the time, worse case your Dad can get you on with Kalitta, which wouldn't be bad at all..

hope all is well

btw: tell your dad to look me up on Facebook, I tried to find him but there are WAY too many with his name.

To make an understatement, "quiet."

+1; I second this view, I totally agree here, if one has a Airline career in mind, then this gig is not the right GIG for any one with 500/50, even 450 & counting.
Eagle & even PDT & GLA, all are offering interviews & hiring at 500/50. This point of time, year 2011 & 2012, is once in a decade time if not once in a lifetime, where the low timers 500/50 guys can jump to 121 regionals, pick up Turbine or jet time, may be even upgrade & move on......

This gig is very good if it was 2009 or 2010, but right now it makes sense only for someone who doesn't want to go to the airlines & stay as a GA pilot.

The money is not that great, if one wants to leave home & go 10,000 miles away, one should make so much in 1 year to save for 2 yrs living expenses in US. It's just living on an island;and & flying a single engine Cherokee, whatever that is worth......

Build the time where U are and try to reach the magic number of 500/50 & apply to Airlines...........
