Airship Time

Hi, does anyone know if airship (blimp) time is counted towards total time when applying for an 135 or 121 job? Thanks

Maybe they log pilot time in weeks like oceangoing ships.

I'm not sure, I have a potential job flying airships, but I wanted to know if the time I build there could be used in my total flight time towards an airline or corporate job.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Total time is total time. Unless they specifically ask for "x hours in airplanes" or "exclude airship time" I say include it.

Most companies specifically ask for your total time in AIRPLANES. Unfortunately, airship time is 99% useless, aside a resume builder and proof that you can pilot things at 14 kts.

Why is that? And no, I've never even been inside an airship.

Because most companies that operate airplanes only care about experience in airplanes. I have some glider time, but most companies will not count that towards my total time. It does not mean it is worthless. My glider time gives me something to talk about in interviews and so will airship time, but it will not count towards hiring minimums.

It is a great interview story!

"Tell me about a time ******."

Instead of the same jazz from airplane pilots, you tell them about a time from airship flying. You'd instantly have made a memorable impression with the interviewer, which is the key to an interview.
