The chief pilot called me today and said that he no longer wants to hire me due to lack of experience. I asked what kind, his reply "not enough students signed off, and no one signed off for PPL rides." He shouldn't have offered me the job in the first place, then turned around and said nevermind. On to the next rejection!
I think I'm going to start asking for letters of hire the next time. This is the 3rd time it has happened.

You're learning what the phrase "talk is cheap" means- many humans love to spin a big yarn and let the chips fall where they may while the fallout is naturally at someone else's expense. That is a part of human nature but not the better part. After a while you will learn that you don't have to be that way and after enough cycles you will also learn to tell the sound of b-s simply by the way it feels. Hopefully you will prefer simplicity over grand effect and realize that while sincerity does not pay as well and takes more work, it is more rewarding in the end. As my father likes to say don't get mad, get even by living a fuller life.

Well spoken cub.
I sympathize with you not getting hired. I see jobs rarely posted for CFI positions in my area, but when I do- they always have some requirement like "200 dual given."
If I had 200 dual given chances are I wouldn't be applying for an entry level CFI position!
This is industry is so strange. How are you supposed to get instructor experience (which everyone recommends getting on APC) and sign off students if you can't get employment because you haven't given any signoffs?
Cart before the horse anyone?

Keep trying to get a better CFI job and keep interviewing, it good practice and will pay off in the long run. It wont be too much longer and flight schools will be begging for CFI and the only ones left will be ones like you. Im one of 3 CFIs at my flight school with around 1300 TT and looking to move on. Once that 65 thing happens there will be some movement in all levels from CFI to P 121

6 hours is still 6 hours. Even 15 or 20 hours per month is still time you didn't have before. Before you know it you'll be at full time CFI gig or even as a copilot somewhere. Enjoy the ride and try to network by working line service or throwing bags at an airline.
