Towing the banner
I am pretty interested in flying banners this summer, does anyone have any info on banner towing or insight on some good companies out there? I would be willing to travel anywhere and have heard of Van Wagner from other posts. It seems like FL and MD are the hot spots for most companies. March would also seem like the time companies are looking for pilots for their summer months. Any info on towing banners is greatly appreciated. Thanks

there are a few places that use c-172s and other tricycle gear planes but 95% is tailwheel. Cubs, bird dogs, pawnees, etc. Don't bother applying at VW unless you have your endorsement plus 15-20 hrs. And they started hiring for the summer season in january. Not sure what other companies do. PM me if you have your TW endorsement and I'll give you their contact info.

I have been trying to find a banner tow company that takes low time pilots with not much tail wheel experience. Barnstormers while you have to pay for your training will take you on. I looked into them last summer but i didn't have to money to pay for training. Is there anyone out there who has flown for Barnstormers? If so What do you think about them how was the operation.

Yea, the coastal areas are obviously the best place to look. I got my signoff and have about 12 hours and they are telling me I need somemore time. So I guess 25-30 seems to be a good estimate. Its just frustrating because thats why I want the job, to build time. haha
