how realistic is my goal?
Merry Christmas everyone,
I am a relatively new pilot and have a question about the reality of my career goals. By the end of January, I will have 500TT, my commercial multi, 20 hours multi, 100+ hours night, 100+ hours instrument, and 300+ cross country. The majority of my hours are in a Cessna 150 that I have owned for the last 5 months or so. My goal is to be in a light jet in 1-2 years, maybe a Phenom 100 (preferred) or similar class of light jet. So my questions include: how likely is it that I get picked up to fly PC-12's or better with 500TT? Am I going to have to fly a job like aerial survey in a 172? To be clear, I have no problem moving or living like a gypsy for the next few years. I'm a dedicated bachelor for a reason. I'm also very open to signing a contract if it means getting type rated and paid enough to live on until I prove myself.

Given the demand signal from the airlines, you can probably get a variety of piston jobs.
The trick is multi time, I suspect you'd need at least 100 ME to be insurable for most multi jobs, especially jets. Probably 1000 TT for jets. So I'd beat the bushes for a piston ME gig, if you can find one that will hire you with 20 ME then you'll be on your way. May need to do more ASEL to get the TT up though.

Go the survey route, your probably missed out on this season. But next August and September all the picto vendors will start looking again. But like everyone else, I would recommend getting your multi sooner rather than later.
