I flew a Piper Chieftain years ago. I believe it was a
PA-31-350. Total fuel burn was 40 gals/hour per block hour. We did not aggressive "lean" the mixture. The technology today with engine analyzers you could get the burn rate down.

The 24gal. figure are you thinking that is the total fuel burn on a PA-31 or a Pa-34 per hour?
Whoops, that was a typo.

PA-31-350. Total fuel burn was 40 gals/hour per block hour.
So that would make fuel ~$250/hour
