Default New age limit

Hey all...

I've heard of the possibility of the age limit of 60 being bumped up to 65. Does anyone have any info on this ?

Thanks

Do a search of this forum. There are hundreds of posts about it. Most feel it will come to pass in a few years but are not happy about it for various reasons.

Applies to Part 121. Doesn't apply to 135.

Osama,

You got to stop spending so much time in your cave, pard.

The Congress has been talking about it, ALPA is all over it . .and all the self-indulgent, snot-nosed young airline F/O's are catatonic that some old guys who have worked for 3 defunct airlines and haven't been 'vested' in a retirement plan yet, might like to work an 'extra' 4-5 years, like their 'normal' high school and college buddies, to insure a half-way decent retirement.

Some of those "snot-nosed FOs" are pushing 50+ years, but that really doesn't matter.
What does matter is not what you or I or the Unions think, but what the airlines and their handmaiden, the FAA, decide is the cheapest way to go.

I can perfectly understand the "pull the ladder up, I've got mine" attitude and I am neutral on the issue. But then again, I could walk away right now and live happily ever after from a money standpoint. Some guys are really wanting this to change and there are good arguments on both sides, but ultimately it boils down to money and the supply of available pilots to those actually making the decision.

"snot nosed" relates to the 'attitude' . . .not necessarily chronological age.
