Default Flight Express @ KORL????

I have a few questions about Flight Express out of Orlando Executive....What kind of schedules do you all work? How many days a week? Can I get three days off in a row each week? How many hours a month do you fly???

Default Flight Express

hey there luv to fly...i can probably help you out with that one a little...i worked for them for 1 1/2 years...first off i would like to say that they are a very good company ...they always treated me fairly and never did anything to make me feel uncomfortable as far as being pressured to fly and that kind of thing...excellent maintenence as well...the crew up in nashville is pretty sharp !...to answer your question-- it's pretty much five days a week with weekends off garunteed unless something unusual comes up which was pretty rare in my experience...as for 3 days off in a row good luck with that one...probably not gonna happen in this life...most of the runs are day runs but there is plenty of night flying as well...i was domociled in Jacksonville, Nashville, (where most of the barons are) and jackson, ms ..got lucky with the scheduling and had some pretty good runs...overall very good experience...good bunch over there...hope this helps...if you have any more specific question pu 'em up...

Default flight time

oh...about the flight time...that can vary greatly as well...as i'm sure you're aware part 135 can't schedule you for more than 8 hours as a single pilot...i know some of the runs come close to that every day...for example the baron run i did in nashville was about 7 hours a night, every night...u do the math...it builds pretty quick !...other runs can be maybe just a couple hours of flying with a lot of wait time in between...it can vary quite a bit...just depends...

Hey Hargus, What are you doing nowadays? From your postings, I got the impression that you are not at Flight Express anymore. Any other info dealing with FEX training, interview, etc would be appreciated. thanks.

I'll just give you advice from being a former 135 pilot. Stick to what you know is right. The moment you start bending for dispatch/boss's, they're going to keep pushing that fine line in the sand. Be safe, and take calculated risks, not just barreling in because it's your job.

Congrats on the invite! Check out Welcome to Austin's Flight Express Pilot Information Page for everything Flight Express. This info will make ground school much more relaxed.

Good luck!

That site is very helpful. Anyone know about how many pilots are invited to a class and of that number about how many are offered positions?

Thanks

Can you fog a mirror and fly a frasca? You're hired. The trick isn't getting hired it's staying hired. The training class is a sort of 2-week interview and the washout rate is fairly high. Pay attention, study, be able to speak english and fly a simple, no tricks IFR flight, and you'll do fine. Recommend you study Austin's guides before you start out...it will ease the process greatly.

I had a great time there. Good people, good managment, good airplanes, good experience all around.
