Default Baker Aviation Hiring CL 300 Initial Cadre

Hello all

I've written about Baker Aviation extensively on this forum. When I first started 2 years ago we had 4 X's. It's been a great place to work.

This week we are flying 9 lines of X's and plan to have another one flying by 4th quarter. The X is a great plane but is limited with full loads with pax and cargo.

That is why Tim Livingston our CEO/owner is purchasing our first CL300 (9 seater) to add to the certificate. We expect to be selling flights on it by late August.

Initial cadre of 6 pilots will man the plane. We've hired some CL pilots already but need a few more. Two of our X pilots are transitioning over but we need 2 other current CL pilots to join our growing company.

Initally it will ramp up slowly but our sales team weekly get requests for trips a X can't do but a CL 300 is perfect. We are confident the planes will be utilized at the similar rate as the X.

Baker is veteran owned business with 55 pilots. The CL fleet will grow in '25 with current projections.

if you are currently qualified (within 2 yrs of recurrent) and have at least 400 hrs (preferred but not required CL 300 PIC) , pls drop me a message, text me at 214.924.9033 or email at [email protected]

$100K for PICs + $130 per flight hour.

I just finished up a 44 hr 8 day rotation in the X.

The CL won't get to that out of the chute but we project in just a few months for the word to spread with brokers.

The pay and benefits will be the same as the X pilots. Will post that info in a separate post. Running to catch a flight so apologies.

My previous posts describing what we are looking for has not changed...love to fly, don't mind hard work, no whiners and you aren't a jerk.

Not taking non-typed pilots at this time. Will need to have no commitments in 3rd and 4th quarter of this year as we expect to get many bookings, after 6 months 21 days of vacation.

Thanks for reading and inquiring.

I miss flying that airplane! Certainly one of my favorites.
The X must be getting long in the tooth. Is this the beginning of a replacement strategy?

Good hearing from ya, Chase.

We are adding more X's not replacing any with CLs

Customers we have found often need more cargo capacity and TOW for a full 8 pax flight. Sometimes you need a station wagon and sometimes you don't.

Adding the CL to the fleet will capture more revenue instead of having to say "sorry we can't get you there and your bags"

Baker History (since June 2022)

Tim Livingston, CEO, took over the helm 2 years ago. Journey has been remarkable:

In the first 6 months we had 4 Xs, and were in the red. Lots of turnover in those first 6 months sorting through folks who fit the mindset of the new owner.

We're now a solid home based 135 operator with good checklists, CRM discipline and 40+ pilots who are pulling in the same direction.

Our military Skill Bridge SIC pilots have been awesome. We hire SICs almost exclusively from this pool of applicants. Send 2 a month to initial through end of this year. If eligible to retire in spring/summer of 2025 or later, contact [email protected] after visiting the Skill Bridge website and apply for an opening...planning well ahead is the key.

Several PICs/SICs have gone on to 121 jobs(SWA, AA) and some have gone 91. Our SB pilots are Ex helo and a few fixed wing USA, USN, USAF, USMC. The SB pilots are on a 9/5 schedule for their SB time, afterwards (if all parties agree to a good fit) get normal SIC pay.

Our pilots are averaging 25-45 hrs per rotation (50-90 monthly).

We're flying a 9 X lines, planning on first CL 300 end of Aug, 2nd one 4qtr '24, airplane schedule each week. We have 10 airplanes on the certificate, 9 owned by Tim and 1 managed.

3 new "RODEO" paint schemes with rest of X fleet, will be awhile for the Challenger fleet, callsign is RODEO, new interiors also.

Mx is done on the road by either BA mx flown to airports for Baker mechanics who float like our pilots.

BA is implenting the first of its kind home based MX who will spend a month getting trained in FTW and then will work an 8/6 schedule deploying to OPF/TEB/VNY or wherever broke airplanes are located. Hiring for those positions also.

Crews take 15 pics taken each day of all fluid, accumulator levels, tires, brake pads for DOM to lead turn attention to those areas. We have stockpiled $250K worth of X Michelin nose/main tires so we won't be caught short unlike some other places.

Our DOM is great at being proactive as are our pilots in reporting issues, small or large, and getting those fixed.

95+% completion rate for trips scheduled and pax delivered to destination.

___________

Company credit cards issued to buy airline tickets for our travel to and from the airplanes

Book our own hotels, rental car.

Tim got tired of rental, Uber/Lyft charges in our standard hangouts (PBI, OPF, TEB, VNY), he bought 10 Camry's and has positioned them for dedicated crew cars at the FBO where we fly the most to include MCO for the training folks...he likes to save money.

Company iPad, Foreflight, JetInsight, Genesis are the primary apps. We file our own flight plans, central scheduler process. If you have further questions send me an email at [email protected]

If you want to apply for a fulltime CL 300 position and are current within 23 months, send resume and interest to [email protected]

Baker's not for everyone, we work hard, fly high, fly fast and that sounds great but there are some pilots who would rather stay in the hotel than problem solve a finicky airplane like the X.

Don't apply if the latter describes you.

Let's RODEO!
