Default ATR

Will these ATRs be the -500 series or the -600 series?

Apparently AW and RM have taken several trips to France to the HQ.

Reliable source in Dallas says they have no plan to phase out the 135/145 but instead want to support the shorter flights in and out of LAS/SNA/BUR/OAK with the ATRs and keep the ERJ for anything over 400 miles.

I assume United would be footing the bill for the ATRs if I was to bet.
I don’t know if this is a joke or not. There’s not a single positive from a customer standpoint of flying ATR’s. We will lose a lot of our high paying customers if we switched to turboprops, I don’t see it ever happening. People pay a lot of money for the “JSX” experience, no one wants the JSXATR experience lol

I mean, I don’t know if it’s true or not but I do trust the person who told me. They “spend a lot of time on Mockingbird Lane” if you know what I mean.

That said, they expressed the same concern to me but my understanding is they aim to mitigate that as much as possible with the onboard experience. Also they think the ATRs might allow better performance out of some airports like MMH which they hope to win back. Maybe we will see ASE or TEX out of BJC too with them. Makes sense but I’ll believe it when I actually see the planes.

I’m with you that it seems like a bad ergonomic choice, but as we know, Randy is about the dollars and cents…

Imagine that the conversions/rehabs will take time…

Looks like they’re all ex-Expressjet frames? What on earth do they possibly plan to do with that many new frames
