So much has changed since then, a new pilot agreement that included substantial pay raises, QOL enhancements, $30k bonus and being able to pick your base.

If you get selected for an interview, just know that 50% of the interview is you attending that mixer in the evening, having no more than 2 drinks, and being sociable. The tech/hr/chief pilot sessions are pretty straight forward as they’re just making sure you fit with the company culture. Think of the JSX culture as a mix between Southwest and Virgin America (RIP).

The start and end times can vary. Just because you are based there doesn’t mean you start and end there daily. Generally, as previously mentioned, you can expect to be away from base about half of your 8 day rotation. However, when you are in base, it can range from a 0530 show time to an 1800 show time. Could be one turn out and back or four legs total. From what I’ve seen, the average duty days are from 6-8 hours. With less or more generally being thrown in their randomly. I’ve had days where I flew one leg and was done, and others where I have flown six. These of course are the exception and not the rule.

And also keep in mind that it may all change significantly once NavBlue comes online and we start bidding schedules by base. It's supposed to be much more transparent since you should be able to see the exact lines you will be flying instead of just bidding days off, but I'm curious to see what those lines look like and how similar they will be to the current schedules reference number of legs, number of overnights, and such.

Quick question for those of us who do not live in California and don’t wish to run afoul of the Franchise Tax folks:

What percentage of the flying is actually IN (or more technically OVER) California?

Funny because I LOST a pilot to them because he lived 15 minutes from BUR. I couldn't argue with his reasoning...quick upgrade and no commute. QOL can be everything.

As of now, more than 51% of your flying is within California on JSX. THEREFORE YOU PAY CALIFORNIA STATE TAX WHETHER YOU LIVE THERE OR NOT. This will eventually change as X extends its flying outside of CA.

INC DOES NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. We pay taxes based on your home address.

Check your pay stubs. Mine recently changed. No more CA tax
