Coming up on two years at this pay rate. Anyone at WUP hearing anything about pay increases and other QOL improvements like 7/7 schedule? Also, I recall reading about annual bonuses around Christmas ($1,000). Did they give one for 2019? Are pilots still leaving every week? How’s the overall “mood” there? Just trying to get a feel for how things are going since TMC and DPJ mergers. Thanks.

TMC AND DPJ don’t really effect us, at least not yet
I’m 99% sure that 7&7 will never happen at GAMA. Rumors of an announcement coming, but no idea what it is. Same bonus at Christmas time, 2019 was no exception. There’s still attrition, not sure the rate at this time. You ask 5 people what their mood is, you’ll get 5 different answers.

I am thinking about coming to WU with 3300 TT and about 1200 hours of King Air 350 as well. If you get hired as an SIC and meet the upgrade requirements pretty quick, are you allowed to upgrade or does one have to wait a year?

Also, do the pilots switch seats at all (ie; the SIC sitting in the left seat) like some other operators?

You can apply and get hired as a captain as long as you meet all the requirements. If hired as an SIC, you get evaluated for a PIC slot as you near your 1 yr anniversary.
The only time an SIC flies from the left seat is with a supervisory pilot (IP, CP, or Pilot Supervisor).

I’ve probably asked this before, but I noticed that WU King Airs use both the PL21 and ProLine Fusion cockpits. Do KA pilots fly those interchangeably or do you have some operating in one geography vs another (ie East Coast vs West Coast based)? I guess it would make sense to be trained on both to maximize flexibility....

We get trained on both to maximize flexibility. Most go to PL21 when first hired and can only fly that platform. For their 6 month check they will be sent for fusion training.

Default Interview Process

I have a phone interview in a few weeks. Is anyone willing to provide insight on the discussion topics? After a successful phone interview, what can I expect moving forward? In-Person interview? Sim-eval? Thanks.

It really depends on if your going for a SIC position or PIC position. SIC- general IFR stuff nothing difficult. PIC- be ready for a pretty good part 135 operations Oral. There has been a real problem lately with 30,000+ hour pilots coming from Major expecting PIC (Provisional) Captain solely based on hours who can’t file a flight plan on a simple fltplan website. Next will be CBT 80 hours worth. I know it say only 40. But if your new to part 135 it will take double that time. Next will be 1.5 weeks of Indoc followed by 2 weeks sim ground school. Then IOE

Just a general note for everyone that wishes to apply at Wheels Up. This might only happen to me, but who knows.
I Applied couple weeks ago, 2,500 tt, more than 1,000 PIC 135 Turbine (SEL) and around 150 instruments with few (50ish) hours of Multi Time. They replied back saying they wanted at least 300 Turbine Multi or 500 Piston multi for an SIC position.
