It depends on what your wanting to do FO/CA. As an FO more instrument question like ..when do you need to file an alternate, Fuel requirements, may talk about the last plane flown engine, etc.... Kerp in mind the just want to know if you can pass your checkride not that you are Captain Sully. If your looking for street CA they may do an in-depth Part 135 Oral over 135 policy and procedures and EOD. Most of the interviews I know of are over SKYPE or Facetime

Default Parking @ IAH

I'm off to indoc for Gama on the 4th, and this is my first "home-based" gig. I know the company doesn't cover parking, so I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to whether or not the FBO that we purchase fuel from here might offer complementary parking for a local Gama pilot for 8 days every other week...I can check with them, but not sure if it's Atlantic or Signature...

What are some of you doing regarding parking during your 8 days on...Are you all just biting the bullet and paying for parking? (I think it's only about $5/day, so it's not the end of the world if I have to pay to park...just looking to save money where I can.)

Thanks!

It all depends on what airport you are based at. My base lets me use employee parking for 20 bucks a month. Some other airports let you park at the signatures for free and catch a ride over to the terminal with them, some do not. I would suggest calling the airport parking authority or checking their website. Also, ask your instructor in indoc about parking, I seem to remember them compiling a list of parking options at all the bases a while back for this reason. Welcome to Gama!

You might look at your Gama email and find the latest pilot directory and contact a few folks that use the same base.

Most Signatures, Atlantic and FBOs for that matter allow you to park in there lot pending space available which there almost always is. Google your local FBO and call them. Keep in mind sometimes they don’t always have enough help to drive you to terminal so be prepared to lyft to Terminal. But if your a a medium to Large airport you’ll be fine in terms of parking at a FBO. Which airport is your base?

Thanks. I'll be based out of IAH. We've got both Signature and Atlantic...

Hi jetpiloto,

Congrats on your GAMA gig.. Try the following in this order:

1) Talk to Atlantic and Signature to see if you an park there... Often times they say yes... This will be your cheapest option, costing you only tips to and from the terminal. Often times they say yes

2) Try to get Employee parking in IAH. Often times they say yes, too ... Go there IN YOUR UNIFORM so they know that you are a "real Pilot", since GAMA probably be on their list like UAL, AA, DL, SKW, etc.

3) If 1 and 2 fail, you can park at a nearby hotel for around $4.00 per day. Follow this link...: https://onestopparking.com/Houston-airport-parking-IAH

Good Luck and Congrats!

I wouldn’t count on it, I don’t know how many times I have seen planes parked at my base overnight, and I have never received a trip there overnight.
