Default Any Cape Air pilots out of SJU?

Looking for info from a current Cape Air pilot based out of SJU. I am going to try and non-rev from SJU to EIS with myself and wife on 7 or 8 February? What is the likelihood of getting a seat that time of the year -- seems like there is a flight leaving every hour or so but I also realize that there are only about 9 seats available per flight. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Seriously? Cape Air has a huge business flying from Boston to Cape Cod and Nantucket that is unsubsidized.

I was at 9K a couple years ago and was based in EIS. It can be pretty tough especially now that they are definitely short pilots. It wasn't horrible when I was there as a lot of flights had multiple sections ie - more than 1 plane on a given flight number, so you had 18 and even sometimes 27 seats. They might still do that, but probably not as frequently if at all.

Depending on how huge the other passengers are, there were many occasions I had to remove someone. Non Revs would get the boot first. Also, sometimes, the W&B wouldn't work with 9ppl and it would require too much ballast which would send the plane over max gross TO weight and would have to remove people.

Your best bet is to go on Capeair.com a few days before and act like your buying a ticket. They have a new system now and honestly I think they might show how many seats are open. If it looks full I would recommend Seaborne. They are CASS and honestly, given the island way, you may very well have no trouble bringing your wife. That was one cool thing about Cape. The agents would list whoever was with you if you were a pilot. Im talking listing friends and complete non relatives lol.

I think since its Feb you might be okay. I remember it being nuts around the holidays and NYs, but taking a lull until March and Spring Break. PM if you want info on the island as I can give you a bunch of recommendations and stuff to do.

Goodluck and enjoy yourselves

They are probably the best run regional airline out there.

you should try seaborne, they fly to eis as well, this is high season though, and most flights are full.

Cape Air is well known in the Marianas. For breaking down all the time.

I fly Sju-EIS each day on my line, flt 4431 at 1134a and I hardly ever take more than 3 people on that flight for some reason. I think it's just an odd time for people connecting in Sju from the states. So it's definitely doable.

My wife and I go to Scrub Island once a year. The ticket on Cape Air from SJU-EIS costs more than from IAD-SJU on United. Not complaining, just saying. BTW, always had a nice flight on them though their schedule tends to run on "Island Time" if you know what I mean.
