Its not a bad place to work. If you have over 2500 TT you will probably upgrade quickly. We are upgrading out of order is this current class because a few FO's don't have the req 121 time yet. We had a couple FOs that were not finished w IOE and biding for left seat.
QOL is good if you are based in SJU, we have a few crash pads going near the airport. I am based in SJU and commute down from Ohio, via UPS out of SDF. Life on ST Croix is very hard, very expensive. If you want to fly the seaplane you have to be based in STX.
We are moving all of our ops from St Croix to San Juan in March, does not really impact the pilots that much.
Trips can be fun, we stay in some awesome resorts on some islands and some everyday hotels on others. A great group of pilots, great weather (80%) of the time anyway. More aircraft on the way as well as new stations in 2014, Lots of growth. If you have any questions I did not answer PM me.

To answer the question about growth, we are scheduled to receive 1 Saab in January and 3 or 4 more in the next 6 months. The govt. just invested a lot of money in our carrier, lots of new stations in 2014.
As far as the seaplane question goes, yes you must have an ATP MES rating for either seat, a rare rating for sure. Most if not all of our pilots went to Jack Browns in Florida for the rating. We are the only 121 float carrier in the US.
