I did a phone interview with Kelly back in February and got thru the first stage. I have over 3000 hours in the SAAB and figured this would be an easy transition and I have many former Colgan and Mesaba friends that made the jump. The initial phone interview went great and Kelly asked me to continue the process. I agreed and told her I would be available later in the day for the interview with the line pilot and fleet manager. As the day progressed, I started looking over the numbers and trying to figure out logistically how I would make the commute or move. I decided to call Kelly and cancel my interview and tell her that it just wasn't the right fit for me. She didn't answer her phone so I sent an email saying " blah blah blah thanks for the opportunity to interview for the position, but it's not currently in my family's best interest to make a move right now. I hope you will consider my application in the future, should another opening arise". I thanked her for her time and sent the email.

To this day I haven't received a single "OK" or any acknowledgement from her and it really truly ****es me off. I was professional and courteous and the effort was not returned. This is not the way to treat people you want to come work for you, especially qualified people.

It's been on my chest for a while now, I just wanted to share. Maybe someone can tell my where I weny awry.

You turned down the interview, at what seems to be a growing company. Time and energy was spent to interview you, and you expect more time and energy to be devoted to write a "dear John letter?"

Ain't nobody got time for dat!

The commute or relocation information was available to you prior to the interview. Why did you apply if you hadn't run the numbers. You can't use the excuse of progressing on to the next stage of the interview process for your lack of forethought.

You gave her the impression that you were interested in employment with the company, simply by the act of applying and arranging a phone interview. She spent her time assessing your qualifications and personality. You canceled the interview the correct way, which was the wholesome, sexy thing to do. She probably just doesn't like playing patty cake with people that waste her time. You really shouldn't be butt hurt tho.

Your CEO used to be a good guy. I assume he still is. Last time I saw him, he had a pitcher of beer in his hand.

Course that was 20 years ago and he was my first instructor at Purdue.

Do you not have enough going on that you care what someone in recruitment thinks or does or doesn't do.

Aren't there some people in class right now? Hows it going? What's the company like?

I expect professional courtesy. Especially out of an airline.

No - there really isn't a pay scale, info on benefits, or a business plan available anywhere other than word of mouth. The phone interview shed light on issues that made the job less appealing.

While I am still grateful for the opportunity to interview, I wish some acknowledgement had been given.
