I know what you mean. They make you learn stupid, dumb stuff like punctuation and capitalization. Bastards.
I hate it too. And that the larger airlines hire pilots with ATP's. A private ought to be good enough. Or that they make you wear clothes. That's the worst. Uniforms? Total bull****. You should be able to show up with no education, just enough experience to drive a moped through a parking lot, and a tuxedo tee-shirt with flip flops and a beanie with a propeller on top.
Then again, there is some sage counsel floating around out there which reminds us never to go full retard. So, there is that.
Entitlement. Got some?
It seems what you're really asking is, "what is the most minimally qualified job I can get without having to work for it, that will let me live the way I want to live?" All you need to do now is define how you want to live, and doubtless a company will jump at lowering its standards to accommodate. Best of luck.

Then, obviously triggered, you proceed to disparage this person for being some kind of lazy underachiever. Did it ever occur to you that this pilot might've been around the block a time or two? Many of us, myself included, spent years flying for ACMI or non-sched operators. Now the gray hairs are showing & maybe we're fine flying something like an ATR in just one, or two time zones instead of 24. If the pay is decent enough, and one lives around the DFW area already, why not?
Maybe he hasn't been around the block, but he's taking care of a loved one. My Korean War dad/vet has major kidney issues & covid wasn't kind to him either. So, even if I wanted to go back to ACMI stuff, it'd be tough. Everybody's got a reason behind the choices they make.
Over-inflated ego, got one?

Cargo ops Questions
for those flying the cargo route:
1. what time is the departure?
2. Do you go home every morning / night?
3. Is it straight flying for 4 or 5 days then youg get a day off?
4. How long till captain upgrade in the cargo/-500 side of ops?
much appreciated folks!

1) Departure is right around midnight/0000. Show time is 1 hour before ETD, usually 2300.
2) Yes, home every morning around 7 to 8am depending on which city pair you fly.... unless you break at the outstation which has happened, but rare. In that case, you got to a hotel. All crews pack a small "just in case" bag.
3) 5 on/5 off.
4) Currently, you can upgrade as soon as you meet the 121.436 minimums. You're gonna fly around 55-65 hours per month on the cargo side once you hold a line. Very few people are taking the upgrade at AFW so if you are local and want it, it's yours.

The "sign on" bonus is a bit misleading. You get $4250 after OE is complete. Another $4250 after 1 year is complete. And $4250 at 1.5 years and 2 years.

My ultimate goal is being MCO based working for Frontier, Spirit, JetBlue or southwest. Does silver airways have any agreements about any of those airlines not hiring their pilots? For example I wouldn't want to work at CommutAir if I wanted to fly for United or Endeavor if I wanted to fly for Delta or the wholley owned if I was trying to get on with American. From the other forums it looks like they would rather take pilots from the competitions feed and I wouldn't want to work at silver if this was the case with those MCO based airlines.
