The demand hasn't been what the airlines have anticipated and it isn't profitable. Same reason every other airline is drawing down their Cuba flying...

A secondary reason they may have scaled the cuba flying back is the inability to staff it. A few weeks ago a Skywest guy that commutes from Tampa asked on here if he should go to Silver to live in base and the response was no. You don't here that very often. I don't really see a path forward for them to stay open. I know former pilots there that had to "move up" to a jet regional to even have a chance of hearing back from an LCC or major.

Make sure you have a pulse and 1500 hours, anything else is gravy. Seriously though it is a very relaxed process, we certainly have image issues but individually most ppl here are cool. It's a friendly interview and one you would need to try to not pass.

As for the hearsay conversation above about a Skywest guy or whatever, I live in base and love it...

Criticize if you must, but it's pretty simple here: show up where most every crew member, agent, ramper, etc knows you by first name, fly your Saab around FL/Carib then go home that night and actually see your kids.

Also guys have recently been hired at frontier, spirit, allegiant and abx.

Thanks for the information. What I think everyone would like to know is what were the most recent base assignments out of training?

With the NE flying gone, Is everyone going to Tampa? Or is FLL needing more crews to cover Cuba? I'm curious as well. Thanks in advance!!

REALLY...??

Entry Requirements
Travel to Cuba for tourist activities remains prohibited by statute. However, the Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued general licenses for 12 categories of travel. Individuals who meet the regulatory conditions of the general license they seek to travel under do not need to apply for an additional license from OFAC to travel to Cuba. The 12 categories of authorized travel to Cuba are: family visits; official business of the U.S. government, foreign governments, and certain intergovernmental organizations; journalistic activity; professional research and professional meetings; educational activities; religious activities; public performances, clinics, workshops, athletic and other competitions, and exhibitions; support for the Cuban people; humanitarian projects; activities of private foundations or research or educational institutes; exportation, importation, or transmission of information or informational materials; and certain authorized export transactions.
