One more question, how rough is the systems course for the type ride on the Saab?

I took 3 min and looked at the Air Cond. systems, I understood the overall, one path gets hot air, one gets cold air and you blend, but how detailed does that go down to each component of that system using Air Cond. as an example?

Just curious, if I sign on I want to pass, I love systems, but we don't know what we don't know and I am trying to find out how big is big.

Really appreciate it.

thanks

This isn't the place to even begin to try and answer that question. Show up to class pay attention and you'll be fine they'll teach you everything you need to know.

They will teach you the oral and there are many gouges around other pilots. It's not rocket science like it used to be in the 1900 days.

Another Silver Jumpseat question...

ALPA jumpseatinfo.org says "Full uniform or business casual (no jeans)" is acceptable for jumpseating on Silver Airways, but a gate agent just told me that full uniform is required. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Thanks!

All the oral exam and type ride guys are really easy. I don't think people fail at all anymore. Just cooperate and graduate.

A full uniform is NOT required for jump seaters riding in the cabin.

Do you all have a Jumpseat in the cockpit? And if so will the w&b allow for someone in it with a full cabin?

And I assume full uniform is required to ride in the cockpit?

Btw your gate agents are awesome. They were by far the most pleasant agents I dealt with yesterday trying to make it home. We had an issue with my airline not showing up in their system even though we have a reciprocal agreement and we are in CASS, but they listed me anyways as a non-rev and then the Captain personally made sure I got on the flight.

A big thanks to you guys for the ride home! If anyone ever needs a ride on an MD-11 to South America or Africa send me a PM. You guys are cleared to ride with us as well.

There is a jump seat in the cockpit and a uniform is required there. We normally can't use the jump seat when the cabin is full due to weight, but sometimes we can if we are low enough on fuel and bags.

Actually I spoke to the guy in charge of jumpseating at Silver and he said uniform is not required in the cabin or in the cockpit. He had a memo that was released to gate agents that explains that, but not all gate agents have read that memo as close as he wanted them to.

Looks like Silver is hosting a pilot open house on Wednesday (tomorrow).
