Anyone go to ex-Gulfstream airlines for an upgrade that is longer than many of the large RJ jet operators? Makes zero sense to me.
+1... How is this place still in business?

SilverBullet,
Plenty of guys have been hired at Silver this past year with very little recent experience. The negativity on this board gets a little exaggerated at times. There are definitely some issues with management and contract violations etc., but our union does a pretty decent job of keeping them in check. We do have a pretty decent contract, "most" of which usually gets followed. Obviously the pay is lower than at the "jet" regionals, but for someone who lives in Florida, I think Silver a pretty decent option.

Currently the most junior person in Orlando has five months of seniority. It looks like the most recent class all went to Fort Lauderdale.

Back in my day the most recent class went to Greenville and FLL was unobtainable unless you were hired by Gulfstream

Yep, some things have actually gotten better here. No more Greenville for the new guys!

Thanks for the insight guys. I am going to continue to work on my proficiency and prepare for the interview process before making a decison on what regionals to submit my application. Besides Silver Airways I think I have narrowed my choices down to EXJ, PSA and Envoy.

Because not everyone is a narrow minded automaton like yourself who refuses to realize that Silver is in no way still the old Gulfstream Airlines... maybe the only similarity is a few guys on the seniority list.

I don't work there, but interviewed when they were hiring street captains. I got the offer but decided against it, but my reasons weren't as narrow as "it used to be GUlfstream". It seemed like a decent place with nice enough people.

A shiny jet isn't the end all for everyone.

The 1900's are either all done flying or almost done. I'm not sure which.

What are the junior bases in FL? What are the expected bases out of training? Are trips overnights or are you back to your domicile at night? How long on reserve out of training? Thanks for any info. I've read a lot of the previous posts but just looking for the most up to date info as I'm sure there is lots of movement.
