Cruz it has to do with the level of certification of the SIM, the one you guys are using is probably a lever III SIM and you will not get your landing quals on that SIM due to the visuals, we have to do the samething at Eagle on the ATR, you have to finish the check ride on the aircraft. The Jets train in a level IV SIM and the first time they see the aircraft passengers are boarding!!!

Incorrect...The sim is not an FTD (level III, or IV as you've stated), it is a full motion Level D sim.

We could complete the entire check ride under appendix H 100% in the sim, but choose not to, and instead conduct checking under appendix F. This will be changing soon, and all checking will be done in the sim, (so i'm told)and "fam" flights will replace the 15% check.

Congrats to those who've passed their check rides. Remember on the 15% that the airplane will be very light...you'll be at V1 much faster than you're expecting!

Don't forget to call flaps 35 on the single engine ils when check airmen says field is in sight!

Thanks Nancy, i'm aware. There is a lot of very senior pilots at United, AA, USAIR, and Delta with a lot of accrued sick time. They are starting to cash in now. By 2013, barring any occluding factors, hiring at the legacies should be in full swing. There is going to be a vacuum at most regionals within the next two years.

Make no mistake, I'm well aware that I will be based in BFE for at least a year, but a man has to keep up hope.

Sorry I meant level C, are you sure it's a level D. level C it's a full motion SIM and looks just like a level D, there are just some small differences, but I am not in your company so I don't know your program

I agree with that decision. I know from experience what it is like in the CLE region and I truly feel that a off the street captain would have a terrible time adjusting. Its hard enough getting used to 121 operations and a new plane and being in charge, but throwing ALL the challenges of the Northern ops on top of that truly would be too much to tackle. There are just so many other things you have to REALLY think about that you dont consider when flying in warmer regions. It makes it MUCH harder. Spending some time in the right seat to see how things go is a safe and sound decision.

Do you have any previous airline experience? If so, how do you feel the training compares to your previous employer?
