Because all of the senior/qualified FOs are probably based in Florida and don't want to go back up north if they upgrade. So, they are training qualified new hires in the left seat, however they need to fly 100 in the right seat before they can go PIC (at least thats the way I interpreted the ops manual).

Don't hold your breath. If that's true, it'd be a first (been at 4 airlines). Your company will consider that wasting money to have already trained captain, then bump him just to train you.

Hey folks, keep all that good info coming! I just sent my resume in via the aol email, hoping to hear something soon. Did any/all of you fill out the online application linked on their site? I did, but wasn't sure if it was necessary.

I did, but got an error message each time I submitted. I just kept emailing the AOL email every 10 or so hours (like twice). I got a call to set up an interview about a week after that.

Sadly I am good freinds with several CA/FO/CA/FO guys. I know of one Captain was signed off Captains IOE only to be put back to FO the VERY NEXT DAY. Now through the union contract he was able to be paid as a Captain for the rest of the month, but was eventually put back to FO. I am guessing that the 4 other airilnes you have been at did not have the unique circumstances that Silver has with low time pilots.
