Default Silver Airways

I hate to rain on your parade, sandrich, but the Company and the Union just announced their plan to get all FOs their time in a private aircraft with a Silver Airways representative.

Check your email, guys and girls.

Food for though-- the union's view is that if FO's dont like the current situation, theres plenty of other airlines out there to work for. However, they also stated "why would anyone with ATP mins want to come fly turbo props for these wages." Cliffnotes; no plan to help retain pilots, no plan to help attract new ones. Well, call me stupid, but either the company or union (probably both) doesn't understand the importance of an FO in a 2 pilot aircraft.

It seems to me that the company and union would rather wait until they have to spend thousands every day to put pax in hotels for cancelled flights, than spend $5 more per hour to the pilots for said flight. FWIW, apparently last month was an all time high with $70,000 spent in hotels, transportation, meal vouchers, customs fees, etc in FLL alone, for cancelled flights (a fair part of that due to crew shortages).

Want to really sit back with popcorn and watch a good show? Tell all the senior guys in FL that they are going to be outstation based in Pensacola, Jacksonville, and Macon (maybe thats the big news )
New CA slots in FL? Watch every senior FO down here, myself included, jump all over those opportunities. Senior CAs down here might not be so thrilled if they downsized FLL or TPA in any significant way, of course!

Kinda wondering...where would I sign up to be the "CFI" on those flights?

Haha

(Totally kidding, I never want to instruct again, ever)

Haha yeah, just saw that. Something tells me FOs short on time will be doing bag runs to the Bahamas in a Navajo

Curious to see if there will be some sort of commitment, whats to stop someone from saying "thanks for the free time, see yahhhh"

For sure, I'd jump all over that too, and I hate Florida haha. It was more of a "what if" situation directed towards the super elite Silvuh-fo-life pilots

$10 says there's no announcement

$20 says the announcement will do nothing for pilot retention.

$30 says Saluki will be either $10 or $20 richer tomorrow.

Is that a guess, or officially unofficial announcement?
