This company has MAJOR problems with standardization, mediocre sim training, inconsistent manuals and a group of check airmen that don't even know what's in their books let alone how to teach someone to operate in a 121 environment. I believe that Fairmont was a symptom of these problems. That's my point.

Stay safe.
So its like "Here are the books for you to pass your written exams and the checkride. You'll figure out the rest on your own flying the line" ?

You guys think there will be Saab upgrades? I spoke with some F/Os recently who want the upgrade but are holding out for the Saab instead of the 1900

Any scenario would need more BE1900 FO's up north, also in BIL. Another strong rumor (right out of the CPs mouth) is that they will be hiring DEC again in the fall (I guess they plan on a mass exodus of captains to airlines like Spirit, Blue, etc) but will not bypass eligible upgrades.
Any word on how many FOs are not going to make the 1500? How many want Saab over 1900? (specifically, in CLE)

It's hard to tell there's FOs planning to leave to other carriers in the next couple of months. The problem is there is no Saab upg program yet, so the original FOs awarded captain slots are still waiting. I don't know how many captain slots will be left as prolly the upper half of the seniority list will go to the left seat on the Saab.

Also, just to make sure I understand the contract correctly, if someone upgrades through a preferential bid, there is no seat lock? If within a few months a staffing bid comes out, they can bid for and get awarded Saab Captain provided their seniority is high enough to hold that?

Hmmm that's odd. I heard differently from a certain member of the training department now at JB. Program supposedly exists and is extremely abbreviated. Minimal ground instruction and only a couple sim sesssions before you take your checkride and are out on the line. Makes you wonder what's fact and what's fiction at this place.

The program supposedly is laid out, but it has no FAA approval, so were still here almost a yr later. Our saab instructor is back, so theres a knowledgable instructor to lead it. At least those FOs are collecting their bypass captain pay. Same issue with the ATP program for FOs no plan for that except for the rumor of using All ATPs for it, not the most convenient route I think for positive learning going to a Seminole to do it.

Is this "knowledgeable saab instructor" you're referring to first name of Matt?

Oh, ok. There's a B1900 instructor who flies the Slaab that just got hired at Jazz Air Canada, and is leaving at the end of the month I believe (maybe sooner, I forget). Super knowledgeable and nice dude.
