As for this old man...Silver is exactly what I expected...and I like it. No complaints from this bro!
Exactly what others warned and advised to some of the young go-getters on the forum way back when this thread started. They advised that the new hires temper that uncontained enthusiasm with some caution. Usually it was met with - 'I'm just happy for a job', or 'This is a completely new airline with new management and a new plan forward'.
I'm sad that those predictions came true.
There must be more than a shred of truth about airline flying sucking everything good out of aviation. It seems to happen to a majority - at least to those that frequent forums (which in and of itself I don't believe makes a majority of the professional pilot population )

Haha yeah.

Being at Hulas community college in 2008 definitely sucked the fun out of flying but after the furlough, recall, furlough, then recall again I've realized flying is what you make it.

Now this old fart is just rolling with the punches...it could always be worse.

From the beginning, I weighed the pros and coins with this airline. When I was offered an interview, I had 230TT and a brand spanking new wet commercial.

I for one was new to the airline world and extremely weary of the pay to fly contract at the time. From what I hear, they dont enforce it in the sense that if you leave early you're not penalized.I got that information from a buddy of mine who is currently a sabb fo with the airline.

I was kicking myself in the butt for not accepting the job.Reason being is that if what my buddy said holds true, I could've stuck in there, build my time and sneak outta there as soon as the opportunity presents itself. And then I would've been ahead of the game in a sense.

But I guess we all live and learn. To some it's a job to be thankful for. To some its unwanted stress. But after reading this, I feel a wee bit better with my decision. As who wants to be working for a company that's ****ed off all the time. I'd rather build my time instructing, with steady pay good benifits, gain experience and then move up in time to a true regional (if there is such a thing). My .02 .

You can't find a more true regional! Low pay, taking flying from others, and making life suck one day at a time . Now you want a good regional, it is like feeding your dog a whole bunch of bacon in hopes its poo tastes
better than the last time you ate it.
We are the highest paid airline out there if you look you fly a 19 seat aircraft for $19 I don't see any other first officer making a dollar a seat. Does xpress pay $50 to their fo's?

A 3rd year Eagle FO makes $37 to fly a 37 seat E135.

Word. If y'all think Silver is bad, go do a stint under the Uncle Hulas regime and then come back and complain.

HAHAHA! Man I couldn't agree more. Tell ya' what though... My ground school instructor at TSA was phenomenal, took care of all of us, etc... It was the darn sim instructors, and some of those captain's are just down right jagoffs...

If we had pilots/flight attendants making marketing/routing decisions, or management who spent time on the routes and seeing the problems, some if not most problems could be corrected, IMO

The test HAS in fact been worded to more easily understand what's going on in the question. I'll be interested to hear how the new test is for those that take it...
My buddy is in training at Pen Air for the Saab, and a few days ago he was called by Silver asking if he was interested in retaking the test (failed by one question and said that it was confusing on some of the wording), so these guys should be given a second chance.

I'm thinking the reason is because the bonus money went to the bribe that got us the award. Lord knows how we actually earned it after watching the events of the past year. Massive delays, low completion factor due to WX ad MX, airplane landing at the wrong airport, no more snacks inflight. Hard to believe that all the other regionals were somehow WORSE than us for the award to be legit.

It literally is a cliche: My airline was voted "Regional Airline of the Year," and all I got was this lousy t-shirt.
I wonder how much the self promotion with the T-shirts, mousepads, and banners in the gate areas cost. If we would have put that money towards paying vendors so crews can have hotels to stay in, rides back and forth to the airports, or even bring on additional schedulers or someone in the finance department for someone to pay the bills, would do some good.

I heard someone in the crew room the other day say he was going to make a "Silver Wings 2013 Tour" T-shirt with a picture of the Saab and Beech on the front, on the back with all the destinations we go to, and the last one "Unemployment Office due to Bankruptcy"

It could always be worse....... I refuse to complain about things anymore. Just go to work, suck it up and pay my dues for the flying job I really want.

BTW, the USB ports with the new FMS work for charging those Apple and other USB powered devices.
