For those of you that have been to FMS training, how do you feel about the new ones? Personally, I don't mind flying VOR to VOR, but the new ones will be nice.

VOR to VOR sucks when the airplane is oscillating all over the place with the AP on NAV. Then center saying you're off course, when your needles say otherwise.
Not to mention would be nice to go direct somewhere without it being a VOR that you can't receive yet due to distance. The RNAV approaches will be a welcoming when we get trained into them in the Saab.

happy were getting fms back, up north I don't feel like we NEEDED it enroute but it will help. we NEED gps approaches for these airports though. many times were dancing with tailwind/xwind/braking action limits because there's only one approach we can do. hopefully they'll get that part up and running quickly. wish they had just sent the powerpoint and test out to us online. for me to do the class it turned into 2 lost days of work, 8 hours of credit, 30 hours of perdiem, a 275 dollar hotel room because they waited until the last minute to book and 40 bucks in cab fees because that hotel had no transport. I know that wasn't the case for everyone but still it must have cost a ton. maybe they were required to have us actually in class for it.
Like people have said, the crews and ground peeps rock. Also I think the top brass make good decisions and communicate a lot for an airline (all the videos and emails) even the chief has improved his email tone. the delay reports are a blessing and a curse, you have to do them all the time but at least there is some outlet where you can say what happened and hope things will change because of it. or at least not come back on you.
....deleted the rest, not worth ranting about crew sked and dispatch....

Haha, that was a long time ago!! Flying is one of, if not the greatest way to make a living. I hate the fact that I love flying. I think what really bothers me here is the complete lack of support from any department in this company. The pay is pathetically low, airplanes are shabby (1900s), maintenance is poor, little to no communication with ....... anyone, dispatchers who don't know where their planes are, MU values always at 25 (ironically just what's needed to land!), Proficiency checks at 3am, ..... I could continue. But the crews are awesome and the agents are great. If it weren't for these folks, this airline would grind to a halt. These are just some of the things that curb the enthusiasm

Billings, and Cleveland. Talked to HR on the phone last night... Girl I talked to was pretty positive about most (but not all) of those 1900s going away, and a lot of the people in this next class getting displaced to the S340. Guess I'll let ya'll know in a week or so...
