That's not saying much!! Honestly, I believe 3M will have a very difficult time finding applicants. The pay here is sub-standard, especially on the 1900 and upgrades have slowed to a crawl. I would think any applicant with 1500 hours would go to the likes of ExpressJet or Republic.

Maybe the elusive pay raise is in the weeds. Or they plan on handing out signing bonuses like RAH or Eagle. I mean, look at how well it's working out for them finding people NOW over there...the only reason I haven't jumped ship yet is my seniority. I caught the wave when I got rehired 2 years ago, just waiting on a staffing bid to upgrade on the Saab. Even as bad as pay is here at 3M, left seat here is still better than RSV FO anywhere else at the regionals. But it may be a while before they run any more upgrade classes. We have a class of 8 new hires about to but the schoolhouse on the 1900, no word about anything beyond that to my knowledge. It's gonna be interesting to watch this play out.

Meh I'm only here for the sweet swag ie t shirts and mouse pads.... In all reality it will be interesting to watch this pan out. I don't see the folks at vpaa wasting loads of time and money on a business all because they couldn't staff this place. It's a super easy fix, just throw a tad bit more money in the pockets of the employees and the complaining stops and applicants show up. The real question is how much extra do you pay? Hell you can even do this.... Saab for example chop the payscale from an 18 year max down to 12 keep 1st yr same so $39 captain $23 FO then 2nd yr starts at the yr 7 mark so Captain $61 FO $37. Is it perfect no because those here for 7 years or longer won't see a raise any higher than what was already bargained for but they should theoretically be able to move on to the majors here shortly. Looking at that from the FO side yr 1 2 3 4 etc etc would be 23 37 39 39.... some may complain about it maxing quickly but with attrition you would make the jump to the left seat quickly. To me the captain rates here are respectable on the top of the payscale it just takes forever to get there. Sure I'd love to make 6 figures but that isn't reasonable but a quick jump up the scale would certainly put a smile on most folks faces here. You wouldn't even have to bargain for higher rates and with the theoretical amount of attrition you wouldn't have many staying here for long periods of time.

Yes, but consider the fact that nearly 50% of the company is on year 2 pay, or will be by the end of 2013, while the payrates wont change, the company will be paying much more.. But I do agree with the fact that more pay to the pilots would make people happier, keep people around, and be a negligible cost increase to the company. These "good job" emails and little party/barbecues will only go so far, wheres the incentive and reward?
