You've blocked out...if it takes an extra 90 seconds to call center/approach/FSS/Your Grandmama/whatever just take a deep breath and do it. At least that's my motto but I'm coming from prior 121 where we could never do the "Bahama thing."

Besides...we gettin' paid by the minute dawg! Might as well be safe and thorough by the minute as well.

Departing MHH for FLL :shudder:

That long climb before anyone calls you back is the longest 5 minutes ever.

The recent ops bulletin does not address departures under vfr only arrivals. In PIB this is an issue at times getting a clearance departing to the South. It's a non event getting it in the air I've done it with check airman but you all can do whatever you want.

Guess you've never called the FSS over the VOR?

Worked fine the couple of times we got our clearance sitting just short of 18. And I don't mind burning 5 minutes.

Ya we use the upper antenna it's really an airport position that causes the issue along with some radios being better than others.

Pro tip: It is better to be thought a fool than open one's mouth and remove all doubt
