I've never done P121 training and only have one type rating obtained from a Flight Safety/SimuFlite type of training program, but I was impressed with the training.

IMO the only difference in 121 training, vs 135 or 91 training, is the specifics of the language and procedures used. i.e. "Flaps Full vs Flaps down or Flaps 39" etc. All of the maneuvers and performance standards are the same.

Cruz or anyone else in training right now, can you give us some insight to the sim portion? A friend of mine told me at lakes they would make you do a single engine partial panel NDB approach to mins at max gross, are you guys doing anything like this? Also how has the sim instruction been so for? Again we all appreciate you guys taking the time to answer these questions and give those of us about to start class a heads up.

121 verbage is very specific. IE. Speed Checks Flaps 17 Selected and Indicated etc. etc.
Today was day one for me of a frasca sim. It's flying attributes are not the best, but it's really meant for you to hone the calls outs and profiles. The only way to make this is be able to recite all the calls outs and run the profiles verbatim. You're going to need to have the IFR flying skills down to make it through the sim plain and simple. Once we hit the Orlando Flight Safety for the full motion I'm sure are standards will be graded to ATP levels. (Company instructors and evaluators are used at Flight Safety on their equipment) I think so far the sim instruction has been very good and positive. I was non stop sweating my butt off the whole time in there and it really never let up at all. As for approaches; all I did today that was slightly taxing was a single engine ILS. As for the single engine partial panel NDB I'm not sure if we will get that. AFAIK they can't test you on a double failure item. Maybe to try and see how you would perform in the situation?..... Having a good scan is absolutely key right now along with knowing the call outs and profiles cold.

A friend who works there showed me the lines. No shows before 12:20, and finishes after 5:50 (I think). There's only like 10 or so trips in BIL, 1, 2, 3, 4 days. Overnights from 11-20 hours. 4-8 legs a day is the norm. A couple of 1+hr sits in BIL for lunch and dinner as well.
