Does this mean the guys in the June 4th class will be displaced out of the Saab to the 1900? They are getting rid of the 1900...but I would imagine that if they lift the seat lock most 1900 guys are going to bid over to the Saab? What about direct entry captains in the June 4 class on the Saab?
They are taking the 1900 out of the schedule. They are not going to train the new hire class in the Saab to displace them into the 1900 after training... That's twice the training for a plane they are going to park. I think the thing here is timing... They have 2 Saab's hitting the line every month and not enough people to fly them. There isn't time to train the new hires in the 1900 and then do the transition training. Why train someone to fly something that is going away? The answer is they're not going to. EVERYONE is going to the Saab it's just a matter of getting them on property and getting the flights started ASAP... If this weren't true then why the street captains? I know it stinks for those in the 1900 right now but I think the fact that they're doing it this way shows how much growth they are ramping up for... I'm excited to be on board...

I'd like to know why they are not contracting out some training to get bodies on the line? Also if its just the time involved in doing the referbs on the 340 keeping them at 2 a month why not contract that out too so they could get at least 4 planes a month going. I know it costs more but with this company growing like it is they better make a decision before they are overwhelmed.

I understand what you are saying and your logic makes perfectly good sense. I am asking this question as a 9E pilot who watched his company do pretty close to the samething you describe above. This is the only reason I asked. In this buisness things don't always have to make sense, management just needs to want it bad enough.

Well I closed a short small chapter in my career. Today looked like my last day of flying in the NE now that I'm heading south to FL. It was an awesome experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Those who want to come here, people in class, and guys up here already you have some awesome co-workers and Captains. Everyone has been extremely helpful in teaching me the ropes and it's much appreciated. Listen to what your Captains have to say, some of the guys have been here since it's opened and their experience is invaluable. Hopefully I'll get the chance to come back up here when I upgrade. As always if you have any questions PM.

To all you junior guys, enjoy Florida while you can, the staffing bid will probably throw things in a blender as far as where you are flying. There are lot of senior pilots who have just been waiting for TPA and ATL to pop up and become crew bases on the Saab. But the good news is, if you get displaced, you get moving expenses. The northeast is nice, as long as you don't mind snow and small towns. The people up here are tops, and it's like a family with the crews, ramp agents and managers. BFD is a great base, and the experience you accumulate up here will be invaluable to your career and your flying skills. Pay attention and always be ready to learn.

I'll be seeing you in FLL next month, bro. Just celebrated my last day up north yesterday. Been in BFD nearly a year now, going over to the Saab in the class on the 4th. See you at the Springhill Suites.
